The Pilgrimage continues...
Our week was a rhythm of several very important events. On September 15th we visited Cuet, home of the great saint of Oceania, Pierre Chanel. After Cuet we travelled to Cerdon. Oh, how beautiful it is to walk in the footsteps of our founders and to be lead to the sources of life. This is holy ground for us, Cerdon Marist sisters! In this simple place, lost among the vineyards, the dream of the birth of the Society of Mary began. In 1823 our sisters established the first community. We recalled the Act of Consecration of our predecessors by renewing our “Yes” to follow Christ. What a joy to stand on Mount Carmier and to entrust our journey to our first and perpetual superior. There, the father of a local family whose turn it was asked us to light the candles. This tradition has continued since 1854 with the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception. What faith and loyalty!
Wine that gladdens the heart: this speaks of the quality of sparkling Cerdon wine.
On September 16th we were around the table with our older sisters: OOOOh wisdom and youth: your works are beautiful, O Lord! These were moments of happiness, joy, of peace and love. We can sing praise with the psalmist: see how good it is, how sweet it is to live as sisters all together!
September 19th we visited Ars, this small village where Jean Marie Vianney was parish priest. He was well known by our founders and sent many vocations to the Marists. Later he became the Patron of priests around the world. We were touched by his simplicity, faith and trust in providence. We had a great visit thanks to Athanase, a brother of the Holy Family.
On the 21st we celebrated the gift of the life of our sisters Lutgardis and Jeanne Marie! Our young sisters certainly added to the life of the party.
