Support for Migrants (West Africa)
Sister Joséphine had the pleasure of attending the annual meeting of the Maghreb Sahel network from 21 to 24 April in Tunis (Tunisia). It was a wonderful opportunity for members from 8 countries – Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, South Africa, Cameroon, Tunisia and France – to come together and discuss some important topics.
The meeting was a chance for everyone to share their thoughts on two key themes:
1. Supporting migrant women and the role of women in our organisations
2. What is good practice in the event of the death of a migrant?
It was a truly enriching experience, and we made some great commitments and suggestions for advocacy.
How can we support the families of missing migrants?
– How can we act locally in the face of rising xenophobia?
The meeting was a wonderful opportunity for sharing, and we made a number of commitments and suggestions for advocacy.
