In 1858, the Marist Sisters established their first foundation outside of France in Spitalfields in the East End of London. It was a poor area and there was a great need for education. Later some Sisters were involved in nursing in hospital and surgeries.
Today the Marist Sisters in England have communities in Manchester, Birmingham, New Malden, London, Sunninghill, Hythe and Walsingham. The sisters are involved in social, pastoral and spiritual work.
