Sacred Ground

Our renewal is drawing to a close.

This last week, we visited Le Puy where the inspiration of the Society of Mary began and where we ourselves experienced graces and God's providence.

On the Sunday we joined many young people in the Taize Eucharistic celebration,  with Taize chants, meditative silence, and Sunday readings and prayers in various languages.

The SMSM sisters at Ste Foy, Lyon welcomed us with extraordinary hospitality.  Sr Alegria shared with us the life of Francois Perroton and the Pioneers. We admire the courage of this Marist woman in responding to the call to and for mission.

Our journey continued to many other significant places like Fourvière, Cuet the birthplace of St Peter Chanel, Annecy, and Ars where we prayed to St Jean- Marie Vianney for Marist vocations and for you, our sisters!

We had the privilege of spending four whole days in Cerdon. On the first day, we walked around the village and visited the the places of our first community of the Marist Sisters, the Church, and the environment.

We were involved in the preparation of the 200 years’ anniversary of our first community of Marist Sisters.

Mass was celebrated by the Bishop of Belley, Bishop Pascal Roland, who in his homily encouraged us to be communities of hope.

We were happy to welcome the Marist Family , the Parish Priest and curate of the parish, the people of Cerdon, Belley, Lyon, and other Religious sisters.

On this momentous day of 200 years of the first Marist community, we pronounced our Act of Consecration and we received the original medal of the Congregation. After mass, we shared a celebratory meal.

We then continued our journey to Belley… which will form the last chapter of our renewal journey!
