WYD Stations of the Cross

We are going to walk with Jesus...

 “Today you are going to walk with Jesus,” Pope Francis told the pilgrims  beginning of the Via Crucis, or Way of the Cross, which took place on Friday on the Hill of Eduardo VII Park.  The Stations of the Cross took place on the Hill of Encounter which has been a backdrop to many gatherings in the Park.

Scripture, testimonies from youth and meditations written after a consultation of youth from around the world were supported by dance, theatrical performance.    The music included a mix of Gregorian and Taize chant, traditional church music as well as rap, hip hop, pounding drums and pop.

Pilgrims from our Marist group who attended the prayer described it as exciting, with deep spirituality, and they felt contemplated, because it represented the reality of today's youth.
