Dental Mission
Sr Sheila recently wrote to share news on an outreach to those in prison. PIMM (Partners in Marist Mission) provides financial support to this initiative.
PIMM-Davao is made up of wealthy, senior women who are happy to contribute financially to the Marist Projects. When they began as Marist Laity, they were organised by a Marist Father to help with the Prison Ministry.
They have continued to support the Marist Fathers’ project and the Marist Sisters, particularly the project for prisoners, which are now known as Persons Deprived of Liberty.
Living behind bars is never easy. Fr Pat Muckian, a Marist Father, has been serving at the BJMP, Digos as a prison chaplain for many years. He is certain that dental care is one of the main problems. He invited Sr Sheila, a Marist sister and dentist, to organise a team of dentists and assistants to offer the service to Persons Deprived of Liberty, PIMM-Davao supports this project by funding the dental supplies. The Persons deprived of Liberty were grateful for the tooth extractions and other dental treatments as well as medications provided during the Dental Clinic in early August.
