Marists gather at the Irish Shrine in Knock

This celebration - of the 200 years since Jeanne-Marie Chavoin and Marie Jotillon left home and family to begin the Society of the Blessed Virgin - was originally planned for October last year. Unfortunately, when the time came, the weather put an end to their carefully laid plans. However, the Marist Sisters - like those two founding women - did not give up!! From the photos below, it seems that the long wait had not dampened their spirits and they were joined by many friends as they rejoiced in our beginnings! A number of our Sisters in these photos also left home and family to serve in missions all over the world - Brazil, Colombia, Fiji, the Gambia, Mexico, Senegal - and are remebered with great fondness in those countries.
