Pencil Cases for the Gambia
The children of Catholic schools in Manchester have long been linked with a Marist school in the Gambia - through prayer and the sending of aid in one form or another.
This year - at the intiative of one of our Marist lay partners - the children of St Gilbert's Eccles, St Bernard's Burnage, St Catherine's Didsbury and St. John's Chorlton wanted the children of the Gambia to experience the excitement of beginning a new school year with lovely pencil cases filled to the brim with pencils, pens and all kinds of nice things!
The 'Pencil Cases for the Gambia' campaign resulted in a shipload of over 450 pencil cases, plus boxes of exercise books and reading books arriving in time for the opening of school in September!
