In the footsteps of our founders

Sr Denise Kossi (Unit of West Africa recently spent some time in France.  She writes

To enable me to know better the origin of the Marist congregation, I had the grace to make a journey to France. It was for me a stopover, a time of encounter with the Lord, with myself and with the sisters. It was also a time to listen to the voice of God who speaks to me through the sisters, in simple moments, or that of Mary, our good Mother, who welcomes me in her arms, whether it be at Fourvière or at Le Puy.

Walking in the footsteps of the first Marists, especially praying at Le Puy, gave me the feeling of being the one to whom Mary is entrusting today a new mission among my brothers and sisters of the generation. I was marked by the determination, the courage and the bravery of our founders with regard to their faith and this conviction to carry out the mission that Mary entrusted to them.

Looking at Jeanne Marie Chavoin, I discovered a woman who was strong spiritually, emotionally and physically. She knew how to act in every situation that presented itself to her, without losing sight of the fact that everything was for the greater glory of God and for the honour of the Virgin Mary Mother of God.

It was an experience that allowed me to live, pray and share the life of our sisters in France. To each of them I am grateful for their advice, support, joys and smiles shared throughout my stay.
