Manchester Community supports Lay Missionary from Spain

Last weekend 25th-27th October 2019 we welcomed Silvia Guerra Maestro (centre) to Manchester Community. She is Spanish, recently graduated as a psychologist. She is preparing to have a Marist missionary experience in the communities of the Unit of Brazil. For ten years Silvia has been involved in a parish of Marist Fathers in Spain (Coslada) and is very dedicated to the activities with children and young people. She also has worked as a volunteer in the new international Marist mission of the Camino de Santiago in Sahagún.

Over the weekend Silvia got to know us as a community of Marist Sisters and we got to know her better as well. We went through a few days of  preparation, planning and the sharing of deep motivations for the future experience. 

We are grateful  to Solange and the Sisters in Brazil as they  prepare to give support to Silvia for a six-month experience beginning in February 2020.

It was the first time for Silvia to visit England and she brought the "rain from Spain" as soon as she arrived, but , on the other hand, she left with sparkling sunshine to brighten her way.

                We wish Silvia all the blessings and good wishes for her experience in Brazil and
we pray "La Virgen peregrina" (the Pilgrim Virgin) may lead her forward.
