Mary's work in an Ecumenical Context

At Cana, we see Mary working behing the scenes to bring together people who might otherwise be divided.

In England our Sisters are engaged in ecumenical endeavours.

Sisters Annie from the Birmingham community and Carmel from Walsingham met at St. Chad’s Cathedral to join in the Ecumenical Celebration in thanksgiving for the life and inspiration of St. Bakhita. This National Service of Prayer was led by The Archbishop of Birmingham, Rev Bernard Longley and the main speaker was the Anglican Bishop Alistair Redfern. The Salvation Army played a big part in the organisation while their Band from the Army Citadel played all the music.

Carmel writes:We were so grateful to the Birmingham community for their hospitality and for making this event possible with such good grace. We returned to pray in their chapel where a beautiful display in honour of St. Joséphine Bakhita awaited us. We pray that by getting involved in some little way we can make a difference.

And our Sisters continue to minister in Walsingham, where many pilgrims come to honour Our Lady at the historic shrine. Above the Oslo community pay a visit on a 2 day whistle stop tour - with Frs Tom, Keith and  Carmel.

Here last September 24th, feast day of Our Lady of Walsingham, a new Covenant agreed between the Anglican and the Roman Catholic Shrines in Walsingham was announced and signed by Fr Kevin Smith (Priest Administrator of the Anglican Shrine) and Mgr John Armitage (Rector of the Roman Catholic Shrine). Surely, Mary would be delighted!
