 March 19: Feast of St Joseph, husband of Mary.

It's hardly surprising that Marists have a great love of Joseph, given his faithful devotion to caring for and protecting Mary and Jesus.

Furthermore, on the day our first Marist Sisters were received as novices, they not only received the religious veil and dress, customary in their time, but a special name as well.

Jeanne-Marie Chavoin was chosen as leader and named Mother St Joseph. From that moment she took to heart her responsibility to care for each Marist Sister - no doubt she was inspired and supported by Joseph.
 

May many blessings come to those in our day who are named Joseph and to those who have particular responsibility in families and communities.
