Marists in Australia celebrate our 200 years
On Sunday 29 October many of our Sisters gathered with several of our former Sisters to celebrate 200 years since Jeanne-Marie Chavoin and Marie Jotillon "left home and country to begin the Society of the Blessed Virgin Mary."
The afternoon began with a time of reflection on "Our Founding Story: Take Two" led by Vivienne. First we looked through the Presbytery window and heard a reflected on a conversation between Bishop Devie and Jeanne-Marie Chavoin and Marie Jotillon before listening in on a conversation in the Marist Sisters' house at La Bouchle, Lyon between Mother St Joseph and Sister Ambrose.
Everyone who gathered received a beautiful gift "30 Days of Prayer with Jeanne Marie Chavoin". We then adjourned to the dining room where we watched Grace's special video message for the occasion. Cath then proposed a toast to our foundress before we shared many stories and afternoon tea.
