West Africa Celebrates in Assembly

The Assembly began on Friday evening, 20th October, with a welcome from Sr Innocence. Sr Bernadette then led the Assembly in a reflective prayer on the key areas of Jeanne Marie’s life. Each reflection connected with similar events in our lives and here we stopped to ask her to intercede for us. We finished our reflection with a dramatized version of the ‘Galilee Song’ – leaving our boats behind and setting out once more into the deep.

Following the work of the Assembly Sr Antoinette and the Sisters of the Celebrations Team organized and carried the bicentenary celebrations to a successful and enjoyable conclusion. The parishioners joined us at 6.00pm on Saturday in church to pray and to celebrate 200 years of our existence. The Marist Sisters processed to the altar with lighted candles; the parishioners sang; they reflected and they re-enacted the journey of Jeanne Marie and Marie Jotillon from Coutouvre to Cerdon. We had a Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday morning with a packed church. Afterwards, the parishioners enjoyed snacks and drinks.
