Celebrating 20 years - Association of Catholic Women of St Josephine Bakhita

During the weekend of 10-12 February 2023 the parishioners of St Joséphine Bakhita, (patron of all trafficked and exploited women), celebrated our parish feast here in the Diocese of Dakar.  The Catholic women of the parish said “this year we have the honour of organizing the feast.  This is our 20th birthday”.

Catholic women gathered even before this area was designated a quasi parish but it was the dream of Sr Sylvette Mané that there be a parish association of Catholic women.  So in 2003 after much hard work and with a dedicated band of dreamers and doers, AFECJOB(Association of the Catholic Women of St Josephine Bakhita) was born.

Sr Amédee Kantoussan received a token of appreciation on behalf of Sr Sylvette.

Sr Clotilde Diedhiou is the present Sister Counsellor  of the women, working to continue the Marist dream of supporting women to be a presence of Mary in the Church.
