Pilgrimage to Walshingham
After many months of lockdown, it was a delight for Sr Beate Heutger to join the Marist pilgrims on 3rd July 2020 in Walsingham, England’s National Shrine of Our Lady. Numbers were smaller because of the Pandemic. Traditionally the Marist Family gathers every year on the first Saturday in July.
The day had been organized by the Marist Way and stood under the Theme: Mary, Mother of the Church. Mass was celebrated by Monsignor Philip Moger, Rector of the Shrine and seven Marist Fathers. During his homily Monsignor Moger spoke in much appreciation of the great work that had been done by the Marist Fathers and Sisters over the past 50 years in building up Our Lady’s Shrine at Walsingham.
After Mass people had time to enjoy their lunch and catching up with one another. We then gathered for a time of Adoration followed by Benediction.
Some then walked the “Holy Mile” into the village where the day ended with a short prayer before departure.
