Good morning to the entire Marist community!

My name is Silvia Guerra, I am 23 years old and I live in Madrid. Today I am here to tell you about the best experience I have ever experienced, and the greatest blow of reality the Lord has given me.

One year ago I decided to live a missionary experience with the congregation of the Marist Sisters of Brazil. During the time I spent with them many people asked me why I had left my house and my family to be there, and the answer was easy: I wanted to discover my vocation, so I left everything to follow God and He led me to this community.

I was welcomed from the first minute as one more of the family, and they stood with me until the end of the experience 6 months later. I shared their day-to-day work with them, and I have to say that the work they do, both with the little ones and with the people on the street, seemed wonderful to me. I recognize that I was not aware enough of the difficulties of living in a country like Brazil, but opening my eyes helped me get more involved, wanting to do more to change that poverty situation. That's why when I got back to Spain I decided it was time to give up comfort and act, take to the streets and get involved in the problems we have to face as a society.

In short, after living this experience I not only found a way forward, but I knew the Lord much better through the eyes of those who suffer the most. I thank every day for having lived this mission, and I pray every night that more hands will come together to the struggle.
