Celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in a Pandemic Year
From Walsingham, Carmel Reynolds writes:
We had a joyful celebration of the Immaculate Conception while pilgrims came from near and far 'within limitations' due to frost and fog. We made our pilgrimage of the heart in our own chapel arranged by Rose. It was her special day of entering the Marist Congregation. We wove in the key message of Grace's Advent call and The Pope's Fratelli Tutti - that we strive to be a church that serves and lives unity and fraternity, with Mary.
This led us to contemplate one of Rose's favourite Hymns 'Roses For Our Lady' sung by James Kilbane. He speaks movingly of Mary's love for us all. 'Our gentle Mother is always with us. She recognises the white roses of joy, amid her crown of thorns'. Rose felt happy to find this one and only bunch of white Roses in the store. We thank Mary for choosing us to share her mission in the strength and confidence that she is always with us. We thank James Kilbane for the moving sentiments and spiritual depth in his songs.
And in Rome, our Father Francis was seen by very few...
(Left) Sr Georgeanne Marie Donovan, SMSM congregational leader, celebrated her Golden Jubilee at their General House in Via Cassia. Grace was happy to be present for the beautiful celebration. She commented especially on the Eucharist which featured some of Georgeanne's own musical compostions.
Magnificat, Georgeanne!
(Below) The OMI neighbours of our General House community celebrated their Patronal Feast Day, observing social distancing. Viv reported on the warm community spirit, the joyous singing and beautiful decorations.
