A VISIT TO CERDON

List News

09/07/2021 -

Sisters Denise Husson and Teri O’Brien visited Cerdon on Saturday, 5 June. At the Church they prayed for all Marist Sisters and families before the beautiful statue of Mary.

Continuing their journey, they were delighted to see flowers decorating the only remaining rock of our first house and plants around the spring!

To their pleasant surprise, they were welcomed into the home of Mr and Mrs Zahmoul. Formerly, it was the St Joseph Sisters’ Convent where Jeanne-Marie Chavoin and Marie Jotillon boarded when they arrived in Cerdon in 1817. Sr Denise was amazed at the size of the building which houses not only a little chapel, but ancient desks, a fireplace dated 1549, a granary, wine cellar, stables and even a prison cell!!!

It is wonderful to see how the people of Cerdon are keeping the memory of our Society alive and are always ready to offer “Marist” hospitality!
