GATHERING OF RELIGIOUS FROM PARRAMATTA DIOCESE
On Thursday 22 April Srs Cath Lacey and Judith Lythall joined about 80 religious for a Gathering of Consecrated Persons who live/minister in the Parramatta. The evening was one of thanksgiving for the gift of vocation, remembering those who passed away since we were last able to gather in 2019 and to celebrate those celebrating their jubilees. Bishop Vincent Long celebrated Eucharist for us in the Chapel before we gathered in the hall for a meal.
During the meal, Sr Libby Rogerson IBVM shared an inspirational reflection on the Religious Life in the time of Pope Francis. Sr Libby likened religious to Kintsugi (an ancient style of pottery in Japan) where the cracks in pots are mended with a lacquer mixed with powdered gold. “Essentially the role of religious is to be out there on the edges, picking up the shards and mending them with the pure gold of love, acceptance and hope.”
