SOCIAL JUSTICE IRELAND

Since 1982 the Marist Sisters in Ireland have been involved with Social Justice Ireland.  Sr Brigid Reynolds is a full-time staff member and Sr. Angela Durkin a member of the management Board. During these 40 years Social Justice Ireland has been a leading force for change. Through forensic research and advocacy and by diligently holding successive Irish governments to account, Justice Ireland has worked to protect the rights of the most vulnerable and helped to shape the country we have today.

Based on the values of Catholic Social Teaching their focus is on developing and promoting long term solutions to the causes of injustice and inequality in Ireland.

Social Justice Ireland has led to the development of the Public Partnership Network with a membership of over 15,000 organizations. In 2002 the Irish Government accepted from them to pilot 5 Primary health care teams and the result was we now have 500 Primary Health Care Teams across Ireland.
