A place where Jeanne-Marie Chavoin would feel at home
Sefton is a parish south-west of Sydney where people are used to hard work, simple family life and welcoming strangers... Any Marist Sister who has lived there has found it a happy experience. For a few years the Unit of Australia has no need of the house there and offered it for the use of refugee families. More recently, circumstances have changed and the Sisters need further accommodation. So, the decision was taken to provide financial support for refugees and to reclaim the Sefton property.
After weeks of packing, our Sisters, Gail and Kate are the first to return. They have been greatly helped by one of our Sisters from the Philippines, April, who has completed a course in Sydney and is awaiting clearance to travel back to Davao. The parishioners have been busy welcomg all three. No doubt the spirit of Jeanne-Marie is among them...
